www.chinanews.cn 2005-07-19 16:16:32

On July 18, a child was planting corn in Nalu Village, Luoxiu Town,
Xiangzhou County, Laibing City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. From
June 19 to 21, the village was hit by the most serious flood ever, which
ruined all rice crops in the village, turned fertile soil into sandy
land, and made it impossible to plant late rice. In order to guarantee
life and production of the villagers, local government decides to plant
autumn corn after the flood.
