Shanghai to build a coastal new town

Chinanews, March 30 - Shanghai would build a seaside new town with its
area nearing 300 square kilometers and its population setting 800,000 on
the bank of Hangzhou Bay 32 km away from the Yangshan Deep Water Port,
Vice Mayor of Shanghai Yang Xiong stated on Mar. 29.
The town was temporarily named "new town beside the port". It is learnt
that the construction of this new town will cost 36 billion RMB (US$4.44
billion) of fixed asset investment, and the overall framework will come
into being by 2010.
