Chongqing Municipal Committee of Communication announced that the 2005
annual meeting of the bridge committee of Mao Yisheng Education Fund of
Science and Technology, the most authoritative bridge organization in
China, honored Chongqing as the "city of bridges" on Nov. 1.

Chongqing reputed as "city of bridges"

Chongqing Municipal Committee of Communication announced that the 2005
annual meeting of the bridge committee of Mao Yisheng Education Fund of
Science and Technology, the most authoritative bridge organization in
China, honored Chongqing as the "city of bridges" on Nov. 1. Chongqing is
the only municipality directly under the central government that wins
such honor. Statistics show that Chongqing has more than 4,500 bridges of
various shapes under its jurisdiction at present. The density and
difficulty of construction is very rare to see in the world. Bridges in
use or under construction fully manifest the city's environmental
characteristic of harmonious mountains and traffic.
